A great opportunity to challenge my creativity
(and of course pay homage to my favourite Beatle)

I decided to take part in the third instalment of this exhibition because of how much I enjoyed the previous. At BACKSP!N the creativity on display left a lasting impression, and it made me experiment with a media I had never even considered. So when the opportunity came to be involved again, I was excited to see what I could come up with and see how other artists would interpret the brief.
They asked every artist to base their paddle on at least one of three words; Impact, Momentum or Legacy. When I was brainstorming I had some music on shuffle in the background, and one of my favourite songs ‘Helter Skelter’ came on. I realised a drumming/Ringo Starr paddle could cover not one but all three words, and the idea snowballed from there.
In the end we had:
Side A: A drumming pad with usable drumsticks. I loved seeing people interact with this on opening night.
Side B: My favourite line from Ringo Starr; ‘I got blisters on my fingers’.
